Update: Find out who won Jeopardy! on Thursday, April 28, right here.

Another brand new episode of Jeopardy! meant another opportunity for Mattea Roach to extend her winning streak. So, how did the defending champion do?

Roach, a tutor from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, entered Wednesday night’s game on a 16-day winning streak. She’s banked $368,981 during that run, good enough to place her 10th on the show’s all-time leaderboard for regular play.

Two new contestants arrived on Wednesday, hoping to make their name as a giant-killer. They were Christina Clark, an elementary music teacher from De Pere, Wisconsin, and Ben Hsia, an R&D engineer from Fremont, California.

Who won Jeopardy! tonight?

Mattea Roach didn’t quite get out to the massive lead fans are used to seeing from her. Still, she finished the “Jeopardy!” round in first place with $6,000. Christina Clark wasn’t far behind at $4,000, while Ben Hsia remained in the mix at $2,400.

It was a little bit of a different story in “Double Jeopardy!”. Roach remained in the lead with $27,200. The game wasn’t a runaway because Hsia banked$13,600 and gave himself a chance to at least tie, if not win the game. Clark ended the round with $8,400.

Tonight’s “Final Jeopardy!” was one of the more exciting ones in Roach’s run. Hsia answered correctly and doubled his total to $27,200. However, Roach dashed his dreams of an upset by also coming up with the correct response and wagering $1. It ended up being the difference in the game and Roach won again. Her 17-day total sits at $396,182.

What was tonight’s Final Jeopardy! clue?

The “Final Jeopardy!” clue made all the difference in tonight’s game and tested Mattea Roach’s wagering strategy. Here’s the clue in the category “Poets”:

Answer: Who is William Butler Yeats?

Christina Clark incorrectly wrote down “Who is Yeats?” as her response. As mentioned, Mattea Roach made the right play by only wagering $1. It was enough to give herself the victory rather than bet $0 and risk the game in a tiebreaker.
