Jeopardy! may have started a new week of shows on Monday night, but it was the same champion back on stage. Mattea Roach returned tonight to defend her nine-day winning streak.
Roach has banked $210,802 in cash winnings since debuting on Jeopardy!. The tutor from Toronto, Ontario, Canada is now among the most successful players in show history.
On Monday night, she faced off against Sarah McGrath, a business manager from New York, New York, and Caitlin Hayes, a musician and educator from North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Fans know that Mattea Roach likes to jump out to an early lead in the “Jeopardy!” round. However, that wasn’t quite the case tonight as she dealt with stiff competition. Sarah McGrath held the lead at $5,200 after the first round, followed by Roach at $5,000 and Caitlin Hayes at $3,800.
Roach managed to bounce back in “Double Jeopardy!” when she hit on both “Daily Double” questions. She totaled $20,800 after the round. In second sat McGrath with $12,400 while Hayes earned $9,800.
In a rare misstep, Roach failed to answer “Final Jeopardy!” correctly. However, the same went for McGrath as she also answered incorrectly. A strategic wager by Roach secured her 10th Jeopardy! victory.

Roach incorrectly guessed “What are the Midnights Child?” as her response, costing her $4,001. Sarah McGrath incorrectly wrote down “What is dessert stories?” and lost $9,000. Caitlin Hayes managed the only correct answer.
