Who’s hosting Saturday Night Live tonight, April 16?

Saturday Night Live returns tonight with another brand new episode. So who will SNL fans see take the stage in Studio 8H tonight?
So far, season 47 has been dominated by first-time hosts. Last week, Jake Gyllenhaal became only the third host all season to have any prior experience.
Things go back to the rookies on Saturday. Singer Lizzo will host tonight’s episode of Saturday Night Live. She’ll also serve as the musical guest, joining an exclusive club.
The last host to pull double duty as the musical guest was Billie Eilish earlier in season 47. Eilish was given the honor on December 11, 2021.
Other performers to handle both jobs in recent years include Nick Jonas (season 46), Chance the Rapper (season 45), Harry Styles (season 45), and Halsey (season 44).
What to expect from Lizzo on Saturday Night Live
Lizzo comes to Saturday Night Live without much acting experience on her resume. Other than appearing as herself, her credits include playing Liz in the Jennifer Lopez movie Hustlers.
However, Lizzo knows how to perform. Whether on stage, in interviews, or on her reality show Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, the multitalented singer is at home on stage. There should be no worries about Lizzo freezing up or not going all out on Saturday Night Live.
It also helps that Lizzo was part of one of the biggest episodes in SNL history. She served as the musical guest when Eddie Murphy returned to host in 2019. That episode broke viewership records for the show.
Not only does Lizzo have an idea of how things run at SNL, but she also acted in a cut-for-time sketch from that episode. If it’s any indication of what we’ll see tonight, it should be an entertaining episode.
Saturday Night Live airs tonight at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC. The show also streams live on Peacock.
