Bill Maher‘s latest comedy special, #Adulting, filmed at Miami’s Fillmore Theater, premiered on HBO last night. Whilst the talk show host is always able to attract a substantial audience to any televised appearance he makes, his latest stand up set has fuelled a variety of online fan reviews.

In true Maher fashion, a large majority of his set touched on pressing political issues of the year, most notably, COVID-19 and cancel culture.

The comedian has been at the forefront of ongoing controversy for his recent takes, with many suggesting the host’s political alignment is becoming increasingly unclear.

One user wrote on Twitter after the special aired: ‘I lasted about 2 minutes listening to him carping about people still wearing masks. I had to turn it off. He should rename his show. . . “A Dull Thing!”’

Another agreed, saying, “Watching Bill Maher’s #adulting comedy special and holyyy [expletive] he’s SUCH a boomer. Literally has one bit where he just complains about young people getting tattoos.”

Others, likely more regular viewers of Maher’s regular HBO show, Real Time were happy to see the host in a more relaxed and humorous setting.

It seems Maher has become far too predictable for comedy fans, simply utilizing his known political takes into a stand up setting.

Bill Maher’s Club Random Podcast steams ahead

Sure, Maher’s latest special may have been a let down for many, but his online podcast is gaining the online attention it most certainly craves.

The HBO star has reached unexplored territory in his new podcasting venture, making headlines purely on his range of unexpected guests. Most recently, Maher welcomed actress, Bella Thorne to his studio.
