Jeopardy! fans have seen a new champion every night so far this week. Did that trend continue on tonight’s episode?

Mattea Roach, a tutor from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, earned the right to come back and play on Wednesday night after her victory on Tuesday. She entered tonight’s game with a one-day total of $32,001.

Looking to dethrone her and become the new champion was Lana Altman, a digital programming manager from Southington, Connecticut, and Vernon Ng, an associate professor of English from Tacoma, Washington.

Who won Jeopardy! tonight?

Mattea Roach looked like the champion from the jump. She answered an impressive 21 questions in the “Jeopardy!” round on her way to banking $12,800. Lana Altman came in second with $1,400 while Vernon Ng struggled and wound up with -$1,800.

It was more of the same in “Double Jeopardy!” as Roach hit on both “Daily Double” questions. After two rounds, she had $28,800. Altman and Ng were tied with $2,200.

“Final Jeopardy!” was just a chance for Roach to add to her total, and that’s exactly what she did. She was the only contestant to answer the clue correctly. The tutor from Toronto added $10,000 to her total and became a two-day Jeopardy! champion.

What was tonight’s Final Jeopardy! question?

Stumping two out of three players, tonight’s “Final Jeopardy!” question wasn’t easy. Here’s the clue in the category “Small Countries”:

French, Italian & Swiss nationals make up about half of its population of 38,000

Answer: What is Monaco?

Lana Altman incorrectly guessed “What is Malta?” while Vernon Ng went with “What is Lichtenstein?” as his response. Only Mattea Roach correctly came up with Monaco.
