Real Time with Bill Maher welcomes Russia expert Julia Ioffe tonight
By Matt Moore
Real Time with Bill Maher returns with a brand new episode tonight, March 25. Journalist and Russia expert Julia Ioffe will make her debut.
Like just about everyone else in media, Bill Maher has weighed in on the war in Ukraine over the past month. His Real Time monologues have addressed Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, the policies of U.S. President Joe Biden, and the response by Republicans.
Tonight, he’ll get the perspective of a respected journalist with years of experience in all things Russia. Bill Maher will interview Julia Ioffe to start the show.
Ioffe was born in Moscow before her family moved to the U.S. when she was 7 years old. After graduating from Princeton, Ioffe started her career in journalism. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, and The Atlantic among other outlets. Ioffe’s book Russia Girl: Memoirs of a Russian Soul is forthcoming.
Ioffe is the founding partner and Washington correspondent for the news site Puck. She’s made a number of appearances on cable news and late-night TV to provide insight on Vladimir Putin and Russia. Expect Ioffe to do the same when she joins Real Time with Bill Maher tonight.
Who else is on Real Time with Bill Maher tonight?
After Bill Maher interviews Julia Ioffe, he’ll welcome tonight’s panel. Both guests have appeared on the show before.
Senator Jon Tester of Montana returns to the show. The Democrat serves as Chairman of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee. In addition to commenting on what’s going on overseas, Tester could also share his thoughts on the confirmation hearings for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.
John Heilemann is a journalist and author. He’s the executive editor of The Recount, hosts the Hell & High Water podcast, and is also the creator and host of Showtime’s The Circus. Expect him to share his thoughts on Vladimir Putin and his state of mind.
