Saturday Night Live hosts each bring something different to the table
Jerrod Carmichael earned new fans with his NBC sitcom The Carmichael Show which ran from 2015 to 2017. In 2021, he directed and starred in the film On the Count of Three. The film, which co-stars Christopher Abbott, Tiffany Haddish, and J.B. Smoove, debuted at the Sundance Film Festival.
Jake Gyllenhaal has hosted Saturday Night Live once before, back in 2007. His next film is the Michael Bay-directed action thriller Ambulance.
Lizzo served as the musical guest in 2019 when Eddie Murphy made his triumphant return to Saturday Night Live. The episode ended up being one of the most-watched shows in recent SNL history. Lizzo is expected to release a new album this year, coming off the success of the single “Rumors.”
Saturday Night Live is currently on hiatus. There has not been a new episode in season 47 since The Batman star Zoe Kravitz hosted back on March 12.
Typically, an SNL season features 21 episodes. Lizzo’s episode on April 16 will bring the season total to 18, meaning there are likely three more hosts to be announced.
