iTonight, Jeopardy! champion Maureen O’Neil tried to make it three wins in a row on Wednesday night. Here’s how everything turned out on another brand new episode.
O’Neil, an executive assistant from Rye Beach, New Hampshire, entered Wednesday night’s game with cash winnings totaling $21,000. While it’s not exactly a staggering amount to win in two games, it was enough to overcome her opponents and advance to tonight’s matchup.
On Wednesday, O’Neil faced off against Sallie Bieterman, an actor and museum educator originally from Seattle, Washington, and Shelley Vinyard, an environmental advocate from Washington, D.C.
Who won Jeopardy! tonight?
It was another low-scoring round to open the game. Maureen O’Neil led after “Jeopardy!” with a total of $3,800. Shelley Vinyard wasn’t far behind with $3,200 while Sallie Bieterman had some catching up to do with $200.
However, things would stay pretty much the same through the “Double Jeopardy!” round. O’Neil was in first with $9,000. In second was Vinyard with $8,800 and Bieterman came in third with $1,500 going into the final clue.
In “Final Jeopardy!,” O’Neil was the only contestant to answer correctly. She wagered everything she had, doubling her total and giving her a three-day total of $39,000.

Tonight’s “Final Jeopardy!” question stumped two out of three contestants. Here’s the clue in the category “Epitaphs”:

Shelly Vinyard guessed “Who is Sylvia Plath?” while Sallie Bieterman incorrectly answered “Who is Edna St. Vincent Millay?”
