Jeopardy! returned Monday night with a brand new episode, but with a familiar champion in place. Margaret Shelton put her four-day streak on the line.

Coming into Monday night’s Jeopardy! game, Shelton was on a roll. The homemaker from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania touted impressive cash winnings totaling $79,700.

Her competition tonight included Clay Cooper, an SAT and ACT tutor from Las Vegas, Nevada, and Maureen O’Neil, an executive assistant from Rye Beach, New Hampshire.

Who won Jeopardy! tonight?

The champion found herself in an unfamiliar position after the “Jeopardy!” round. Margaret Shelton finished in second place with $3,200 behind Maureen O’Neil at $6,600. Clay Cooper ended up in third with $2,600.

However, Shelton mounted a comeback in the “Double Jeopardy!” round. Going into “Final Jeopardy!,” she has $12,300 to O’Neil’s $10,200. Unfortunately, Cooper did not qualify for the final round after finishing “Double Jeopardy!” with -$2,400.

“Final Jeopardy” saw the returning champion take a big swing and wager everything. O’Neill took a more conservative approach, betting only a fraction of her total. So when both contestants answered incorrectly, it was Maureen O’Neill crowned the new Jeopardy! champion.

What was tonight’s Final Jeopardy! question?
