Jeopardy! returned with a brand new episode on Monday night to kick off another week of shows. Returning champion Christien Whelchel was back to defend her title.

Christine Whelchel, a piano teacher and church organist from Spring Hill, Tennessee, entered Monday’s game on a three-game winning streak. Her cash winnings for those matches totaled $59,601.

Her competition on Monday night included Ellen Pratt, a strategic projects director from Boston, Massachusetts, and Joe Choo, a student from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Who won Jeopardy! tonight, February 28, 2022?

Whelchel’s experience was on display in the “Jeopardy!” round. She finished with a comfortable lead, totaling $8,400 to Pratt’s $2,600 and Choo’s $200.

Pratt managed to close the gap slightly in “Double Jeopardy!,” but the returning champion was still in a good position. After two rounds, Whelchel had $11,800 and Pratt had $7,000. Unfortunately, Choo finished with -$1,400 and could not participate in “Final Jeopardy!.”

In the end, Whelchel never gave up the lead. She answered the final clue correctly while Pratt did not. Whelchel finished with $14,001, bringing her total winnings to $73,602.

What was tonight’s Final Jeopardy! question?

Given the news, tonight’s “Final Jeopardy!” category felt fitting even though the episode was taped back in January. The category was “Modern War.” Here’s the clue:

Called the longest siege of a capital in modern history, the assault on this city lasted from 1992 to 1996

Answer: What is Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina?

Whelchel correctly answered Sarajevo. On the other hand, Pratt incorrectly wrote down Kuwait City as her response.
