On Thursday night’s Jeopardy!, returning champion Christine Whelchel tried to become the game show’s latest repeat winner.
Whelchel entered the game with cash winnings totaling $34,000. She earned the right to play on Thursday by defeating Henry Rozycki in thrilling fashion the day before. The pair tied following “Final Jeopardy” before squaring off in a winner-take-all tiebreaker.
Tonight, the piano teacher from Spring Hill, Tennessee looked to make it two in a row. She drew a matchup with Anne Large, a bar and restaurant owner from Washington, D.C., and Lucian Wang, a law clerk from New York, New York.
Who won Jeopardy! tonight?
Going into “Final Jeopardy,” Whelchel had a commanding lead thanks to her performance in the previous two rounds. She finished “Double Jeopardy” with $12,600.
Neither Large nor Wang were in a position to dethrone the returning champion. Large had $1,200 while Wang tallied $4,600.
In the end, Whelchel won the game despite not answering “Final Jeopardy” correctly. She ended with $10,600, giving her a two-day total of $44,600.
