Is Real Time with Bill Maher new tonight, January 21?

Real Time with Bill Maher fans have waited long enough. Is tonight the night the HBO late-night TV series finally returns with a brand new episode?

Last we heard from Bill Maher, it was the season 20 finale back on November 19. A lot has happened since then, and late-night fans have been without Maher’s polarizing opinions on most of it.

Thankfully, that all changes. There will be a brand new episode of Real Time with Bill Maher tonight on HBO.

Season 20 of Real Time officially kicks off tonight. With it, Maher becomes the longest-tenured late-night TV host on the air. He takes over the honor previously held by Conan O’Brien.

As far as what Maher plans to tackle in his first monologue of the season, that’s anyone’s guess. He could hit on the January 6 anniversary and the committee’s investigation, President Joe Biden’s first year in office, or the ongoing lockdown debates.

Who’s on Real Time with Bill Maher tonight?

First up on tonight’s brand new episode of Real Time, Bill Maher interviews Yale history professor Timothy Snyder. This marks his second appearance on the show, following a visit in 2017.

In October 2021, he published On Tyranny Graphic Edition: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century, a graphic edition of his book on how the 20th century provides lessons on resisting authoritarianism today.

Tonight’s panel also features two returning guests. Representative Ritchie Torres and journalist Bari Weiss join the show.

Rep. Torres is a Democrat from New York. He’s currently helping efforts to support families impacted by the Bronx fires.

Weiss hosts the podcast Honestly with Bari Weiss. She also serves as editor for the Substack newsletter “Common Sense.”

Overtime returns to Real Time with Bill Maher

Not only is tonight the season premiere of Real Time with Bill Maher, but it’s also the night of another return. Overtime returns tonight after a prolonged absence.
