Saturday Night Live has been on a winter hiatus since mid-December. So is tonight the night SNL finally gets back on the air with a new episode?

SNL left things in a pretty weird place. The spread of the omicron variant in New York City forced the show to change plans for its Christmas episode. After sending most cast and crew members home, the show asked host Paul Rudd to introduce pretaped sketches and holiday sketches.

Now, the show will look to restart season 47’s momentum. There will be a brand new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight.

West Side Story star Ariana DeBose will host the first episode of 2022. She becomes the latest first-timer this season, joining the likes of Owen Wilson, Kim Kardashian West, and Jonathan Majors.

Bleachers will serve as the musical guest. Rapper Roddy Ricch was originally set to perform; however, a positive COVID test from a member of his team forced SNL to audible and call in Bleachers.

What to expect from Saturday Night Live tonight

According to reports, Saturday Night Live plans to have a full cast and crew to go along with a live studio audience for tonight’s episode. Of course, this would be a big change from when fans last got a look inside Studio 8H.

As usual, cast member Pete Davidson continues to make headlines outside of SNL. Some viewers may hope that Davidson references his relationship with Kim Kardashian West during a “Weekend Update” appearance.

As for host Ariana DeBose, the multitalented performer should have no problem adjusting to SNL. DeBose is an accomplished theater actor who also has comedy credits on her resume. For example, she teamed up with SNL’s Cecily Strong for Schmigadoon! on Apple TV+.

Saturday Night Live airs at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC. It also streams live on Peacock.
