Is Real Time with Bill Maher new tonight, January 14, 2022?
By Matt Moore
We’re halfway through January, and the new year of late-night TV is off to a fantastic start. So when should fans expect to see Real Time with Bill Maher join the mix?
Last we heard from Bill Maher was back on November 19, 2021. The season 19 finale of Real Time closed out a year in which Maher targeted millennials, cancel culture and more. Maher’s audience knows that the late-night host typically returns around this time of year.
Unfortunately, it won’t be this week. There is not a new episode of Real Time with Bill Maher tonight.
Instead, season 20 kicks off next week. Fans will have to wait until January 21 to see the Real Time with Bill Maher season premiere.
In a press release, HBO celebrated the upcoming 20th season of Real Time. The network highlighted it will make Bill Maher the longest-serving late-night TV host still on the air. Maher earned the distinction after Conan O’Brien said goodbye to late-night last year. Coincidentally, the plan is for O’Brien to join Maher in the HBO/HBO Max family.
What to watch instead of Real Time with Bill Maher
Late-night TV fans know that there is no real substitution for Real Time with Bill Maher. No other show matches the tone seen on HBO and no host ruffles feathers quite like Bill Maher.
Still, there are late-night shows airing new episodes tonight. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon both have new shows on the schedule.
Stephen Colbert will interview actor Corey Stoll. Then, The Late Show gets a musical performance from the band Geese.
Jimmy Fallon chats with John Goodman and then Cecily Strong. The Tonight Show wraps up with a performance from Jordan Davis.
