Is Saturday Night Live new tonight, January 8?
By Matt Moore
The holiday season is in the rearview and we’re officially on to 2022. So does that mean it’s time for a brand new episode of Saturday Night Live?
Last we saw SNL, the show put its improv skills to the test when COVID-19 derailed the Christmas episode. As New York City battles a rising number of cases, SNL sent most of its cast and crew home. Instead, host Paul Rudd introduced pretaped sketches and holiday classics in a strange but normal-for-2021 episode.
Unfortunately, the holiday hiatus that followed that episode continues. There will not be a new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight.
Instead, NBC will reair the season 47 episode from November 13. Fans will get another chance to see Jonathan Majors host alongside musical guest Taylor Swift.
When does Saturday Night Live return?
Saturday Night Live fans shouldn’t be surprised by the week off. SNL typically takes off about a month around the winter holidays.
SNL season 47 is set to return on January 15. West Side Story star Ariana DeBose will host, marking another first-timer in the Studio 8h spotlight. She’ll be joined by musical guest Roddy Ricch.
In the meantime, fans can get caught up on the best from this season and beyond by checking out SNL’s official YouTube channel. Peacock subscribers also have access to the complete SNL library dating back to season one.
