Who’s hosting Saturday Night Live tonight, December 18?
By Matt Moore
Saturday Night Live is back tonight with a brand new episode. Who will fans see become the latest SNL season 47 host?
So far this season, it’s been all about the first-timers. From Owen Wilson and Kim Kardashian West to Jonathan Majors and Billie Eilish, SNL has handed over the keys to the show to a rookie week after week.
But all that changes tonight. Paul Rudd returns to host Saturday Night Live. He’ll be joined by musical guest Charli XCX.
Perhaps SNL turned to someone with a proven track record because of tonight’s special episode. After all, it is the Christmas episode.
Paul Rudd joins the Five Timers Club tonight on Saturday Night Live
The holiday season won’t be the only thing worth celebrating tonight. Paul Rudd joins the illustrious “Five Timers Club” in honor of his fifth time hosting Saturday Night Live.
Rudd first hosted back in November of 2008. He followed that up with hosting gigs in 2010, 2013, and 2019.
The actor has made a handful of cameos and surprise appearances in between those hosting jobs. But tonight, it’s back to being in the spotlight in Studio 8H.
In years past, someone joining the Five Timers Club has led to special ceremonies featuring some surprise guests. The Christmas episode also has a history of attracting cameos, so we could be in for something similar tonight. Perhaps Rudd’s The Shrink Next Door co-star Will Ferrell will pop in?
Saturday Night Live airs tonight at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC. You can also stream the show live with a Peacock subscription.
