Who’s hosting Saturday Night Live tonight, November 20?
By Matt Moore
The Thanksgiving holiday is just around the corner, but Saturday Night Live will still get to work tonight. Who’s hosting tonight’s brand new episode of SNL?
Last week, The Harder They Fall star Jonathan Majors made his Saturday Night Live debut. The rising star held his own alongside the show’s seasoned cast members.
Now, another first-timer takes the stage at Studio 8H. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu hosts tonight’s episode. He’ll be joined by musical guest Saweetie.
Liu earned praise for his roles in series like Kim’s Convenience and Blood and Water. But things went to a new level when he joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe earlier this year as Shang-Chi. The actor’s performance received high marks from critics, ensuring a long stay in the MCU for Liu.
Simu Liu is the latest Marvel star to host Saturday Night Live
Being a first-time host isn’t the only thing Simu Liu has in common with his SNL predecessor Jonathan Majors. Majors also recently joined the MCU, first as He Who Remains in Loki and next as Kang the Conqueror in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Considering how expansive the MCU has become, it’s no surprise that so many stars have also hosted Saturday Night Live. The list includes Scarlett Johansson, Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Brie Larson, and Chris Hemsworth.
Those actors proved to be some of the best Saturday Night Live hosts in recent memories. So just like joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Simu Liu faces a pretty high bar tonight as host of SNL. But given his performance in Shang-Chi, there’s no reason to doubt he’ll shine.
Saturday Night Live airs at 11:30 p.m. on NBC. The brand new episode is also available to be streamed on Peacock.
