Saturday Night Live has been steadily building momentum through the first two episodes of season 47. Will SNL keep the ball rolling tonight or is it time for the first break of the season?

Things got off to a less-than-ideal start in the season 47 premiere hosted by Owen Wilson. The cast, including returning stars Cecily Strong, Aidy Bryant, and Pete Davidson, came back ready to go. However, audiences were less enthused as reflected by the ratings. Kim Kardashian West gave things a boost last week, so what should fans expect tonight?

SNL will look to get another bump in the ratings. There will be a brand new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight.

No Time to Die star Rami Malek makes his SNL hosting debut. He’ll be supported by musical guest Young Thug.

Saturday Night Live needs a rebound in the ratings

The season 47 premiere of SNL brought in the lowest ratings for a season opener in recent memory. It was down 35% compared to the season 46 premiere. However, that episode featured SNL alum Chris Rock, Jim Carrey as Joe Biden, and the buzz of an upcoming election. Things may just be too quiet for SNL to get any extra attention.

Ratings bumped up slightly when Kim Kardashian West hosted episode two. Perhaps it was her millions of followers who helped. Or perhaps it was those hoping to see the reality star fall flat.

Regardless, Saturday Night Live benefited from her presence. As Deadline noted, the show performed much better on streaming than it did on standard TV.

Saturday Night Live airs tonight at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC. The show will also be streamed live on Peacock.
