Saturday Night Live returns tonight with another brand new episode. Who will host SNL season 47 episode 2?
Owen Wilson got the call to host the season 47 premiere last week. It was the first time for the veteran actor and he proved to be more than capable at holding his own among the experienced SNL cast.
Things could be a little more challenging for tonight’s host. Reality TV star Kim Kardashian West hosts Saturday Night Live tonight. She’ll be joined by musical guest Halsey.
Kardashian West was rumored to host the season premiere. Reports indicated that she met with Lorne Michaels to discuss joining SNL for an episode. It’s unclear how long Kardashian West has been on Michaels’ radar as a potential host, but tonight’s the night.
Saturday Night Live has had its version of Kim Kardashian West
While Kim Kardashian West has never hosted Saturday Night Live before, she’s “appeared” on the show dozens of times in addition to being mentioned. She and her family have been “Weekend Update” punchlines and parodied in sketches.
SNL fans will recall that former cast member Nasim Pedrad did a Kardashian West impression during her run on the show. All those jokes are water under the bridge and Kardashian West has thick skin if she’s willing to walk into Studio 8H this week.
Ratings for the SNL season premiere weren’t great, so the show will look to bounce back tonight. Kim Kardashian West’s massive fanbase and her sizeable number of critics could benefit tonight’s episode as people tune in to see what the reality star brings to the table.
