Facebook suffered a prolonged outage on Monday, a day after a whistleblower sat down with 60 Minutes. The social media giant’s bad day was good news for Stephen Colbert. The Late Show host used his monologue to celebrate the company’s PR nightmare.

Facebook’s outage also affected Instagram and WhatsApp. Employees also dealt with issues, getting locked out of offices and struggling to use their phones.

The problems for Facebook came just a day after a 60 Minutes report in which former employee Frances Haugen alleged that the company is aware of the negative effects Facebook has on society by spreading hate and misinformation.

Stephen Colbert celebrated Facebook’s flood of bad news. His monologue recapped the situation and even so far as to suggest God played a hand in temporarily shutting down Mark Zuckerberg’s empire.

Stephen Colbert appreciated the world getting a break during the Facebook outage

While the Facebook outage was The Late Show‘s top story on Monday, that doesn’t mean Stephen Colbert is a fan. Or even a user. He made it very clear he doesn’t use the social network, joking that he’s heard terrible things.

Colbert even teased his own audience for flip-flopping. At one point, most of the crowd in the Ed Sullivan Theater admitted to trying to get on Facebook and Instagram. But moments later, the same crowd cheered as Colbert reported just how long things were down. The comedian’s advice? “Seek help.”

The monologue continued to take jabs at Facebook and how it’s used to share either mundane, boring details or misinformation. So fans can certainly understand why Colbert celebrated the brief pause in all that Facebook has to offer.
