The Late Show with Stephen Colbert fans have learned not to get their hopes up in recent weeks when it comes to new episodes. But is that about to change tonight?

It’s been just about a month since Stephen Colbert brought a new episode from the Ed Sullivan Theater. Even that week of shows came amid a number of breaks and hiatuses, brought on by the summer, the pandemic, and other factors.

However, fans’ patience will finally pay off on Tuesday. There will be a brand new episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight. Not only that but tonight kicks off season 7 for the CBS late-night TV show.

Colbert has a lot to catch up in tonight’s return. The ongoing pandemic, new laws in Texas, the crisis in Afghanistan, and more are all contenders as the primary focus of his monologue.

Who’s on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight?

As the summer wraps up and the entertainment industry prepares for the fall, expect late-night TV to boast some big name guests in the coming weeks. The Late Show is no exception.

Tonight, Stephen Colbert interviews the stars of Only Murder in the Building Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. The Hulu comedy-mystery series premiered on Aug. 31.

It will be interesting to see the dynamic among Martin, Short, and Gomez. Comedy fans are very familiar with the chemistry between longtime friends and collaborators Martin and Short. Gomez adds a new dimension and by all accounts, the trio got along swimmingly on set.

Tonight’s musical guest is The War on Drugs. The Grammy-winning band is set to release their new album I Don’t Live Here Anymore this year.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS. You can sign up with FuboTV and enjoy a free seven-day trial. The late-night show is also available on Paramount+.
