Sarah Silverman guest hosts Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight
By Matt Moore
Sarah Silverman returns to Jimmy Kimmel Live! tonight — just not in her typical role as a guest. The comedian becomes the latest guest host to sit behind Jimmy Kimmel’s desk this summer.
Fans are likely very familiar with the history between Kimmel and Silverman. Their relationship has been a frequent topic of conversation, and humor, over the years. It’s given us some classic late-night TV moments, not the least of which is “I’m F—ing Matt Damon.”
Silverman is a natural choice to guest host Jimmy Kimmel Live! regardless of her connection to Kimmel. She’s one of the most popular and most talented comedians working today. “The Sarah Silverman Podcast” also boasts an impressive fanbase.
Her background should make it easy for Silverman to slide into the host role. Combined with her familiarity with the Kimmel staff, there’s no reason not to think she’ll be among the best guest hosts we’ve seen so far.
Who’s joining Sarah Silverman on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight?
First, Sarah Silverman will interview actor James McAvoy. He’s known for his roles in The Last King of Scotland, Split, and the X-Men franchise.
On Wednesday night, he’ll promote his new film Together. It co-stars Sharon Hogan and explores how a couple examines their relationship during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Then, director/screenwriter/actor Taika Waititi joins the show. He has plenty to talk about. He has a role in the recently released hit The Suicide Squad, co-stars with Ryan Reynolds in Free Guy, just finished directing Thor: Love and Thunder, and is a co-creator of the comedy series Reservation Dogs.
Tonight’s musical guest is Max and Ali Gatie. They’ll perform their song “Butterflies.”
