Is The Late Show with Stephen Colbert new tonight, August 9?
By Matt Moore
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert hasn’t aired a brand new episode since July 22. Should fans expect that streak to end tonight?
Late-night TV taking a break during the summer months is nothing new. And while some fans wish The Late Show would try out guest hosts (like Jimmy Kimmel Live!) to keep things rolling, that doesn’t take into account time off for the crew and staff.
But audiences don’t have to worry about that on Monday. There will be a brand new episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
All that time off means that Stephen Colbert has a lot of catching up to do. Expect his monologue to cover topics such as Team Trump returning money to donors, the latest on vaccine rates, and the investigation into Jan. 6.
Who’s on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight?
First up, Stephen Colbert interviews author Stephen King. The King of Horror has plenty to discuss with the current king of late-night TV.
Earlier this summer, Apple TV+ aired the miniseries Lisey’s Story based on King’s 2006 novel. The author also served as a writer on the series.
In March, King published his crime novel Later. Then on Aug. 3, he released another crime novel titled Billy Summers.
Actor Winston Duke also joins The Late Show tonight. He’s currently filming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, returning to his role as M’Baku.
Duke’s next project will see him jump from Marvel to DC. Duke will play the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming Spotify podcast “Batman Unburied” written by David S. Goyer.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs tonight at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS. You can also watch Stephen Colbert on Paramount+.
