Ben Shapiro returns to Real Time with Bill Maher tonight, joining the panel. It will be Shapiro’s second time on the show following an appearance back in 2018.

A controversial figure, Shapiro has made a name for himself as a political commentator, radio host, author, public speaker, and podcast host. He can be heard on “The Ben Shapiro Show” podcast and recently published the book The Authoritarian Moment: How the Left Weaponized America’s Institutions Against Dissent.

Shapiro could weigh in on any number of topics that may come up during the panel discussion. Lately, he’s been especially focused on vaccination rates and the changing guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control on mask mandates.

He’ll be joined on the panel by former counterterrorism intelligence officer, author, and commentator Malcolm Nance. His most recent book is The Plot to Betray America: How Team Trump Embraced Our Enemies, Compromised Our Security, and How We Can Fix It.

Pairing Nance and Shapiro gives viewers a little more insight on what to expect the panel to cover. Both men have strong opinions about the conservative and liberal movements, identity politics, and culture wars.

What happened the last time Ben Shapiro was on Real Time with Bill Maher?

Ben Shapiro’s other Real Time with Bill Maher appearance came in June 2018. Maher sat down with Shapiro for a one-on-one interview that centered on the theme of “civility in the age of Trump.”

The “tribalism” referenced by Maher remains just as much a part of American culture and politics now as in 2018. Things got a little heated when the two sparred over liberal and conservative approaches to civility and former President Donald Trump’s character.

Shapiro’s supporters feel as though he came out on top in the discussion, which also touched on the Mueller report and allegations of Russian collusion. Of course, the other side cheered on Maher for taking Shapiro to task on the Republican Party.

Expect more of the same tonight. Real Time with Bill Maher airs at 10:00 p.m. ET on HBO. You can also watch on HBO Max.
