Saturday Night Live‘s Colin Jost will pen the next live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film along with his brother, Casey Jost. It will be the SNL co-head writer’s first foray into the world of franchise films.

According to Deadline‘s sources, Paramount selected the Jost brothers to pen the newest big-screen version of the beloved characters. The movie follows the underwhelming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016).

Deadline reports that Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, Scott Mednick, and Galen Walker will stay on as producers. So it’s not clear if the Josts will continue with the same iteration or reboot the Turtles once again.

For Colin Jost, it will be another addition to his growing resume outside of Saturday Night Live. He wrote 2015’s Staten Island Summer and will write and co-star in the upcoming Worst Man alongside fellow SNL cast member and State Island native, Pete Davidson.

Casey Jost’s writing credits include Impractical Jokers and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. A release date for the next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles big screen adventure was not announced.

SNL recently put out its version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The mention of a Saturday Night Live writer taking on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles may have jogged the memory of some dedicated SNL fans. Over the past two seasons, the sketch show has aired TMNT parodies titles “Middle-Aged Mutant Ninja Turtles.”

However, we can’t count Jost among those responsible for writing these sketches. That honor belongs to Dan Bulla, Steven Castillo, and Kyle Mooney.

Time will tell if any of these jokes or the sensibility makes it into the live-action version from Colin Jost and Casey Jost.
