Is The Late Show with Stephen Colbert new tonight, June 14?
By Matt Moore
We’re halfway through the month of June and summer is just around the corner. It should be a busy one, too, and that includes late night TV. What should The Late Show with Stephen Colbert fans expect to see tonight on CBS?
Stephen Colbert spent last week winding down things from his makeshift studio. The Late Show previously announced plans to return to the Ed Sullivan Theater in front of a live studio audience.
Well, tonight is the night. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will be brand new tonight and it’s the first show with a studio audience in over a year.
While some Late Show fans appreciated the more intimate episodes during the pandemic, including the frequent appearances by Evie Colbert, it’s time to get back to normal. Or, at least a closer version of normal. Colbert’s audience will require vaccination in order to take in the first Late Show back at the Ed Sullivan.
Who’s on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight?
Expect a celebration-like atmosphere on Monday night. Colbert has made it clear he’s ready to back in front of an audience and to produce an expanded version of The Late Show. Tonight’s guest lineup reflects the major milestone.
First, Colbert will reunite with his Daily Show friend Jon Stewart. Stewart, an executive producer on The Late Show, has made a handful of appearances on the show over the years. He’s gearing up for his return to television. The Problem with Jon Stewart is expected to debut on Apple TV this fall.
Then, Colbert connects with another former boss. Dana Carvey will also be on tonight’s show. Colbert got an early break in show business as a writer and performer on The Dana Carvey Show. Between his impressions and history with Colbert, Carvey is always a guest to watch so tonight should be no different.
A special performance by Jon Batiste is also on the schedule. The Stay Human frontman has had a monster year, so it’s fitting that he welcomes The Late Show back.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs tonight at 11:35 p.m. on CBS. You can also watch The Late Show on Paramount+.
