Is Real Time with Bill Maher new tonight, May 7?
By Matt Moore
Spring is in the air as we come to the end of the first week of May. Will it bring with it a new episode of Real Time with Bill Maher?
Fans have been pleased to see Real Time showing up week in and week out with a fresh episode. Last week, Bill Maher railed against the rise of cryptocurrency while also taking on topics like Rudy Giuliani’s legal trouble and packing the Supreme Court.
Expect Maher to be on top of his game again on Friday. There is a brand new episode of Real Time with Bill Maher tonight.
As always, there is plenty to get to. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s comments on President Joe Biden’s agenda, Caitlyn Jenner’s run for governor of California, and Florida’s new voting laws are all on the table.
Who’s on Real Time with Bill Maher tonight?
Linguist, editor, and Columbia University professor John McWhorter will be Bill Maher’s interview guest. It’s his first visit to Real Time since 2004.
He’s the author of Nine Nasty Words: English in the Gutter — Then, Now, and Forever. It examines the evolution of profanity in the English language. Maher could be interested in McWhorter’s take on how offensive language is judged, categorized, and and treated in today’s society.
Representative Elissa Slotkin returns to Real Time with Bill Maher and joins tonight’s panel. The Democrat from Michigan previously served in Iraq as a CIA analyst and has held national security positions in the federal government. Expect her to weigh in on President Biden’s foreign policy and the challenges the U.S. faces when it comes to cyberterrorism.
Rick Wilson also returns to Real Time tonight. The Republican political strategist increased his profile as a co-advisor to The Lincoln Project. In 2020, he published the book Running Against the Devil: A Plot to Save America From Trump — And Democrats From Themselves. Wilson could offer his perspective on the future of the GOP and Donald Trump’s lasting influence.
Real Time with Bill Maher airs at 10:00 p.m. ET on HBO. You can also watch on HBO Max.
