Melissa Villaseñor’s Kristen Wiig impression blows away Seth Meyers

Melissa Villaseñor is one of Saturday Night Live‘s best impressionists so nobody should be surprised by her talent. But even Seth Meyers was shocked by just how good Villaseñor was able to impersonate SNL icon Kristen Wiig.

Villaseñor joined Saturday Night Live in 2016 and quickly stood out for her celebrity impressions. At SNL, she has impersonated Owen Wilson, Gwen Stefani, Lady Gaga, Sarah Silverman, John Mulaney, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and more.

Her talents and personality have made Villaseñor a fan-favorite with plenty of viewers wishing she would get more time on the show. In the meantime, she can be seen as the host of the Film Independent Spirit Awards on April 22 on IFC.

To help promote the awards, Villaseñor was on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Wednesday night. The comedian rattled off some of her impressions like Dolly Parton, Natalie Portman, and Owen Wilson before blowing away Meyers with her version of Kristen Wiig:

Seth Meyers was a cast member and head writer at Saturday Night Live from 2001 to 2014. He’s seen hundreds and thousands of impressions over the years from greats like Darrel Hammond, Will Ferrell, Bill Hader, Jay Pharoah, and Kate McKinnon.

So the fact that Meyers had to push away from the desk in shock after hearing Melissa Villaseñor’s impression of Kristen Wiig tells you everything you need to know. Add in the fact that Meyers and Wiig are good friends who worked side by side for years, and there’s no denying how good Villaseñor did as Wiig.

How does Melissa Villaseñor’s impression compare to Bill Hader’s?

There are plenty examples of Saturday Night Live cast members doing impressions of one another. Jimmy Fallon as Adam Sandler definitely stands out as one.
