Jimmy Kimmel roasts Trump’s rambling wedding toast at Mar-a-Lago
By Matt Moore
Former President Donald Trump was back behind a microphone over the weekend, giving a toast at a wedding at his Mar-a-Lago resort. It’s not the kind of speech we’re used to seeing from Trump but it still wound up in Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue.
Just about every speech, interview, and rant delivered by Donald Trump featured something late night television hosts could latch onto for a punchline. Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, and Seth Meyers became experts at dismantling Trump’s speeches and sifting through the bizarre statements to find the comedy.
With Trump out of office, his public appearances have become less frequent. The occasional phone call to Fox News or political event has put the former president back in the spotlight. Each time, it has been followed by Kimmel and other comedians roasting Trump for it.
The latest example came after a video surfaced of Donald Trump giving a wedding toast at Mar-a-Lago. Despite the setting, Trump couldn’t help but rant about the election and some of his other favorite topics. Check out the video below to see Jimmy Kimmel’s reaction:
Donald Trump’s toast was one of the weirdest that Jimmy Kimmel has ever seen
The border, China, Iran, a humanitarian crisis…these are the things Donald Trump chose to discuss during his friend’s wedding. It’s hard to imagine what the mood was like after Trump handed over the microphone following a toast like that, but chances are the Mar-a-Lago crowd ate it up.
Jimmy Kimmel says it was one of the weirdest things he’s seen at a wedding and he spent time as a wedding DJ. Kimmel jokes “how do you give a drunken wedding toast when you don’t even drink?”.
Of course, no Trump speech would be complete without some self-congratulatory comments. The wedding toast included Trump asking the guests if they missed him yet as president, proving that Trump never passes up the chance to enjoy the spotlight. The video only shows a few words directed at the happy couple on their wedding day following Trump’s rant on how many votes he got in the election.
It’s clear that no matter where Donald Trump goes, he’ll find a way to get in front of a crowd to complain and to praise himself. And it’s clear that Jimmy Kimmel will find a way to mock it during his monologue.
