The Amber Ruffin Show renewed through Septmeber
By Tiara Starks
It was announced that NBC’s streaming service Peacock has renewed The Amber Ruffin Show from now through September. The renewal means that the show will be able to reach one full year on air.
The announcement is the latest in a string of good news for the late night show. Back in February, it was announced that NBC had put the show’s Feb. 26 and Mar. 8 episodes on the network’s programming schedule, temporarily replacing reruns of A Little Late with Lilly Singh in the 1:30 a.m. timeslot.
Since then, Ruffin’s show has returned to its original home on Peacock and has been receiving positive reviews from internal leaders such as NBCUniversal’s executive vice president of late night programming Katie Hockmeyer. She spoke highly of Ruffin in a statement, saying:
"Amber Ruffin’s unique brand of comedy and effervescent personality allow her to shine on Peacock week after week. Each episode raises the bar with a variety of sketch material that is both culturally relevant and hilarious. We are so fortunate to have Amber at the forefront as Peacock paves the way for late-night in the streaming space."
Ruffin’s show is categorized for its incessant commentary on current events mixed with nonsensical but highly entertaining short-form comedy sketches. Onscreen, the Late Night with Seth Meyers writer is joined by her friend and fellow comedian Tarik Davis. Check out a clip from the latest episode below:
