Jimmy Kimmel debuts Trump’s COVID vaccine endorsement video
By Matt Moore
A new survey found that an alarming number of Republicans did not intend to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, prompting calls for former President Donald Trump to speak up in support of the vaccine. Last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, we got our first look at that message.
Surveys have indicated that nearly half of Republican men don’t plan to get vaccinated while a large number of Trump supporters are also hesitant to get the vaccine. Considering the vaccine was developed during Trump’s administration and that the former president received the vaccine, there is hope that these individuals will come around.
The news was concerning enough that late night hosts like Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel have tried praising Donald Trump in an effort to convince his followers to get vaccinated. It could be a case of “desperate times call for desperate measures.”
Kimmel’s latest attempt took things to a new level. The comedian debuted a public service announcement from the “real” President Donald Trump encouraging everyone to get vaccinated. Check out the video below:
Jimmy Kimmel shows off a convincing deepfake of Donald Trump
Jimmy Kimmel’s version of former President Donald Trump may not win over too many MAGA supporters. But there is no denying that it was a very convincing deepfake.
It’s obvious that poring over countless Trump speeches, interviews, and tweets has made it a lot easier for Jimmy Kimmel Live! writers to come up with a script that sounds exactly like what the former president would say.
Kimmel encourages everyone to spread the video around on Facebook just like any other video featuring Donald Trump. If it gets a few more people vaccinated, Kimmel probably won’t mind having done it by tricking people.
