Saturday Night Live announces two more hosts for season 46
Saturday Night Live has officially revealed the hosts for the first two shows in April: Daniel Kaluuya and Carey Mulligan. Both will be making their Saturday Night Live debuts.
Kaluuya will host the April 3rd show with musical guest St. Vincent, and Mulligan will host on April 10th with musical guest Kid Cudi. The episodes will follow the previously announced return of Maya Rudolph on March 27 with musical guest Jack Harlow.
It will be St. Vincent’s second appearance on SNL after debuting back in 2014. And in what may surprise some fans, Kid Cudi will be making his first visit to Studio 8H.

This news comes just one day after the Oscar nominations were announced. Daniel Kaluuya received a best supporting actor nomination for his role in Judas and the Black Messiah, and Carey Mulligan received a best actress nomination for her role in Promising Young Woman. It seems like the producers of Saturday Night Live knew these two were locks to be nominated when they asked them to host.
How will Daniel Kaluuya and Carey Mulligan perform on Saturday Night Live?
Daniel Kaluuya is an excellent choice to host SNL. While these days he’s best known for his dramatic work (Get Out, Queen and Slim), his first major role was on Skins, where he often served as the comic relief.
He’s also acted on a couple of popular British sketch shows, That Mitchell and Webb Look and Harry and Paul. As you can see below, he already has experience acting in the ensemble of a sketch comedy show, so he should fit right in on Saturday Night Live. Kaluuya has an incredible deadpan sense of humor, but he’s also capable of playing big, ridiculous characters. Hopefully, he’ll act in a wide variety of sketches in his SNL debut.
Carey Mulligan has less comedy experience in her career, so it’s a bit harder to say how well she’ll do on Saturday Night Live. That being said, she’s an incredibly talented actress, and her role in Promising Young Woman proved that she can be bitingly funny. If she’s given strong writing to work with, and if she has good scene partners to work off of, Carey Mulligan could be a really excellent host.
