The Late Show with Stephen Colbert aired another installment of its “Seditionist Round Up Roundup,” covering the arrests and trials of those connected to the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol.

It hasn’t been easy for Stephen Colbert to find humor related to the Capitol riot. The more we learn about the day, the more shocked and outraged Colbert becomes. The topic has led to Colbert’s monologues being less about jokes and more about trying to make sense of such a disturbing event.

But at the end of the day, The Late Show is still a comedy show. So Colbert and his writers created the “Seditionist Round Up Roundup” as a way to inject some humor into the story. The segment features Colbert roasting the men and women arrested and charged for their involvement in the riot.

The latest installment aired last night on The Late Show. Colbert’s monologue updated his audience on the infamous QAnon Shaman and more:

Stephen Colbert enjoys mocking the Capitol insurrectionists

It is clear that the “Seditionist Round Up Roundup” is on one of Stephen Colbert’s favorite segments. He gets a kick out of seeing these failed revolutionaries and conspiracy theorists face the consequences of their actions. It’s the only time Colbert brightens up when discussing the Jan. 6 attack.

First up in the round up was Richard “Bigo” Barnett, known for putting his feet up in Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s office. Colbert is practically giddy as he reports that Barnett was complaining in court and having a meltdown over being held in prison.

Then Colbert moves on to the so-called QAnon Shaman, Jacob Chansley. Colbert jokes that Chansley is on the “endangered dumbass” list before mocking his attempts to excuse his role in the insurrection. The Late Show host then hits the Shaman with the cold hard truth about Donald Trump: he doesn’t care about Chansley or any of the other protestors who stormed the Capitol in his name.

Of course, what would have given Colbert the most satisfaction is Donald Trump being held accountable for the Jan. 6 attack. But Colbert is content to enjoy the next best thing in the form of QAnon Shaman and other rioters facing the music.
