WandaVision’s Kat Dennings grew up in a haunted house
By Matt Moore
On WandaVision, Kat Dennings deals with some scary, supernatural stuff as Dr. Darcy Lewis. It probably helps that Dennings grew up in a haunted house, giving her firsthand experience with the unexplained.
Marvel Cinematic Universe fans were thrilled when Dennings reappeared on WandaVision earlier this season. It was her first appearance in the MCU since 2013’s Thor: The Dark World and the fan-favorite was welcomed back with open arms.
Last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Dennings stopped by to help promote the Disney+ show. She revealed that WandaVision’s biggest secrets are kept from her and also touched on Darcy Lewis’ future in the MCU.
But what really stood out from the interview was the revelation that Dennings grew up in a 17th century home in Pennsylvania that was very much haunted. She explained the strange things she saw and also revealed that anyone is now free to stay in the colonial-era haunted house.
Kat Dennings is used to the strange happenings on WandaVision
As if having tour groups of old ladies wasn’t scary enough, Kat Dennings’ childhood home sounds like it was also very much haunted. A house built in 1694 has a lot of time for weird stuff to happen inside it before getting turned into a historical site.
Jimmy Kimmel did his best to offer a rational explanation for why a late 17th-century home could have electrical problems. Add in strangers walking through and you could explain why things go missing or out of place. But Dennings wasn’t convinced it was anything other than ghosts, spirits, and whatever else inhabits a haunted house.
The house was even too freaky for Dennings’ brother to stay in as an adult, which should tell you something. Then again, Dennings may have just made a fantastic ad for the Airbnb owner running the house. Surely there are some die-hard MCU fans/ghosthunters who will now look to book a trip to Pennsylvania.
It doesn’t sound too far off from the experiences for the residents of Westview on WandaVision. Unexplained events, people and things going missing, and the feeling of some unseen figure behind it all describe the show and what was happening at Kat Dennings’ house. It’s not a stretch to think it helped the actress get into her role on WandaVision.
