In an NFL season unlike any other in league history, nobody had quite the same whirlwind experience as Rob Gronkowski. The tight end capped off a crazy year by winning the Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the fourth of his career.

Gronkowski went from CBD salesman to catching two touchdowns in Super Bowl LV, with stops as a WWE wrestler, pitchman, and TV analyst along the way. He was coaxed out of retirement by Tom Brady and after a trade from the New England Patriots, the rest is history.

Having already retired once and with nothing left to prove after his fourth Super Bowl, it is natural to think Gronkowski may walk away again. But like quarterback Tom Brady, Gronkowski indicated he would be back for the 2021-2022 NFL season.

That is, until he appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Gronk suggested there was one factor that could lead him to retire and comeback again:

Rob Gronkowski admits there is one thing that may make him retire again

First, it’s worth noting that Rob Gronkowski wanted no part of that Bill Belichick question. Even years after last playing for the New England Patriots coach, Gronkowski hesitates to get on his bad side.

On the question of retirement, Gronk says there’s no reason he won’t be back next season with one exception: training camp. He did just fine with an abbreviated camp this season due to the pandemic. His chemistry with Tom Brady is as good as any quarterback-receiver duo in the NFL. So he’s not wrong to suggest he could skip it. It was recently revealed the lengths Gronkowski went to skip offseason workouts and it had no ill effects on the tight end.

Then again, it sounds like if Brady told him to show up then Gronk would show up. The quarterback may be the only person Gronkowski fears more than Bill Belichick.
