Is Real Time with Bill Maher new tonight, January 29?
By Matt Moore
It’s Friday and for late night TV fans, that means it is Real Time with Bill Maher night. So should audiences expect a brand new episode?
Season 19 started earlier this month and Bill Maher didn’t waste any time dominating the discussion around impeachment, the Capitol riot, and the Biden era. Expect nothing less tonight when Real Time with Bill Maher returns with a fresh show.
Maher has spent the opening weeks of the season focusing on former President Donald Trump’s supporters and allies. He challenged President Trump’s record while interviewing Kellyanne Conway. Then, Maher sounded the alarm on Republicans such as Senator Josh Hawley and Representative Lauren Boebert who seem intent on carrying on President Trump’s legacy.
There’s a good chance that Maher will continue doing that during the monologue and desk segments tonight. An impeachment trial has been scheduled but the GOP is indicating it won’t convict the former president.
Who is on Real Time with Bill Maher tonight?
Tonight’s interview is with evolutionary biologists Heather Heying and Bret Weinstein. They co-host the podcast “The DarkHorse Podcast” and have written the book A Hunter-Gatherer’s Guide to the 21st Century.
Expect them to connect their research and knowledge in evolutionary biology to the current political climate. It has the potential to be Maher’s best interview of the young season.
Tonight’s Real Time panel will look more at politics and sociology. It will feature one returning guest and one rookie.
Van Jones is a former advisor to President Barack Obama and can currently be seen as a political commentator on CNN. He is the CEO of REFORM Alliance, an organization dedicated to criminal justice reform. On this topic, he can discuss what will change under President Joe Biden.
James Pogue is a journalist and contributing editor for Harper’s Magazine. His latest article examined gun culture and the political right. In addition to that subject, he may also want to talk about the current saga involving GameStop, Wall Street, and Robinhood.
