Inauguration Day: The Late Show with Stephen Colbert goes live tonight
By Matt Moore
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will be live following the inauguration of President Joe Biden
Today is a historic day marked by a significant moment in American politics. So of course, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will be live tonight to celebrate Inauguration Day.
Whether it is debates, elections, or an insurrection, no major political moment from the past few years has gone without a live response from Stephen Colbert. Time and time again, the entire team at The Late Show has demonstrated the ability to provide rapid reaction without missing a beat.
Tonight will be no different as the U.S. finally sees power transfer from President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Colbert has had a few different chances to celebrate since Election Day, but Inauguration Day should be extra special for the Late Show host.
Who’s on The Late Show’s special Inauguration Day episode?
Another staple of a live edition of The Late Show is a top-notch guest lineup. The Inauguration Day special will be no different.
Colbert will be joined by the hosts of the podcast “Pod Save America,” Jon Favreau, Tommy Vietor, and Jon Lovett. Not only are they experts on the current political landscape, but as former staffers for President Barack Obama, they are very familiar with Joe Biden.
Expect Colbert to ask the trio to put the past four years into perspective. But most of the focus will likely be on the future as the “Pod Save America” guys tell Colbert what to expect from a Biden/Harris administration.
Tonight will also feature a special musical performance. The Late Show will welcome Peter CottonTale, Chance The Rapper, and Cynthia Erivo featuring the Chicago Children’s Choir, Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Kofi Lost. Audiences are in for a performance of their song “Together.”
