A Little Late with Lilly Singh kicks off season two tonight on NBC
A Little Late with Lilly Singh returns for season two tonight on NBC. With a year of late night TV experience under her belt, expect bigger and better things from Lilly Singh.
Singh filmed just under 100 episodes in her first season, which wrapped up in May 2020. While the actress and YouTube star is a natural on camera, there was an expected adjustment period as she navigated monologues and celebrity interviews. In the end, season one of A Little Late finished with positive reviews and NBC made the wise decision to re-up for season two.
The first season was shot in just three months to allow Singh to pursue other opportunities and commitments. Any chance of settling into a normal production schedule for season two went out the window with the pandemic. So instead, A Little Late will be shot at a house in Los Angeles, similar to what Jimmy Kimmel Live! did with its guest hosts this past summer.
Things will also be different behind the scenes in season two. As reported by Deadline, A Little Late has a new showrunner in Neil Punsalan and a new head writer in Chelsea Davison. Davison was a writer on season one and her other late night credits include Lights Out with David Spade and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The late night TV world is a crowded one and fans will be especially focused on how hosts respond to everything going on in Washington, D.C. Based on the filming schedule, A Little Late won’t necessarily be addressing the same topics. But that could be an advantage as audiences look for the type of change of pace and energy that Singh brings to late night TV.
Who’s on A Little Late with Lilly Singh this week?
A Little Late season two comes out of the gates with a strong lineup this week. There is definitely something for everyone on the schedule.
Tonight’s season premiere features rapper and songwriter Saweetie. Her debut studio album Pretty Bitch Music will release this year, coming on the heels of the singles “Tap In,” “Back to the Streets,” and “Best Friend.”
On Tuesday, Jan. 12, Singh welcomes actress Brie Larson. Between the launch of her YouTube channel and her preparations for Captain Marvel 2, Larson has a lot to talk about.
Wednesday night features actor Rainn Wilson. The former Office star appeared in the 2020 film Don’t Tell a Soul and the television series Utopia. Wilson was a guest on the first episode of A Little Late so it’s only right that he’s back in the first week of season two.
Lilly Singh closes out her week with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. The former professional wrestler currently hosts Straight Up Steve Austin in which he travels with and interviews a celebrity guest. Season two is set to premiere on Jan. 11.
