After an unprecedented day in American history, people may be looking for a voice of reason, levity, or both. There may not be a better option tonight than The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Assuming The Late Show isn’t preempted by news coverage, Stephen Colbert’s monologue will surely address what happened in Washington, D.C. today. A day after suggesting that President Donald Trump’s pressure on Vice President Mike Pence was pointless, Colbert will have to comment on the behavior of the president’s supporters.
Helping Colbert put things into perspective will be the night’s first guest. Fellow Daily Show alum and late night TV host Samantha Bee is scheduled to appear. The Full Frontal host will join Colbert to discuss what happened today and likely comment on how it will be covered by late night shows going forward.
Next, Irish actor Paul Mescal will join the show. He’ll discuss his Hulu miniseries Normal People as it attempts to drum up more support ahead of the Golden Globe nominations.
