Just because they played enemies on screen didn’t mean that Gal Gadot and Kristen Wiig couldn’t be friends behind the scenes. The Wonder Woman 1984 stars became fast friends and the music video Gadot premiered on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon proves it.

The casting of Wiig as Barbara Minerva, AKA Cheetah, came as a bit of a surprise. The former Saturday Night Live cast member doesn’t exactly come to mind when you think of action movies or comic book movies. Then again, how many people predicted Gal Gadot would go from a supporting role in the Fast and Furious franchise to playing Wonder Woman?

Early reports are that Wiig does a fantastic job in Wonder Woman 1984, set to hit theaters and HBO Max on Dec. 25. Interviews with Gadot and director Patty Jenkins have also made it clear that Wiig was a perfect fit and quickly developed a strong connection with her co-star.

Monday was the start of WW84‘s week-long takeover of The Tonight Show. Gadot talked about her chemistry with Wiig and came prepared to show just what kind of friendship they had. Check out the world premiere of Gadot and Wiig’s music video filmed on the WW84 set:

Fans of Kristen Wiig can definitely recognize her sense of humor in this video. It feels a bit like something she would have done at Saturday Night Live in a “Digital Short” or another sketch.

What may surprise some people is how it seems to be Gal Gadot’s style of humor as well. The actress has had a few chances to show off her comedy chops including a turn as host of SNL. But maybe this friendship with Wiig could open the door to more comedy roles for Gadot in collaboration with Wiig.

Late night’s week with Gal Gadot and the rest of Wonder Woman 1984’s cast continues

We won’t have to wait long to hear Kristen Wiig’s take on her friendship with Gal Gadot. She is the lead guest on Tuesday night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. You can be sure that Jimmy Fallon will ask about the music video and Wiig’s connection with Gadot.

Gadot can next be seen on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Thursday. Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins comes to The Tonight Show on Wednesday and co-star Pedro Pascal joins Fallon on Thursday.
