Stephen Colbert isn’t too worried about President Donald Trump’s legal fight if it’s led by Rudy Giuliani

Two weeks after the presidential election, Stephen Colbert says he feels relieved. This comes even as President Donald Trump continues his legal fight in hopes of reversing the results in several key states. But with Rudy Giuliani in charge, the Late Show host isn’t getting too worried.

So far, the Trump campaign has a staggering rate of failure when it comes to lawsuits related to the 2020 election. Efforts to throw out ballots and arguments of untoward behavior in polling places have been dismissed or dropped.

Now President Trump has turned to his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani to head up his legal challenges. The former New York City mayor went to Pennsylvania attempting to prevent the state from certifying former Vice President Joe Biden’s victory.

If Giuliani is the legal mastermind behind President Trump’s effort to remain in office, then it is a welcomed strategy according to Stephen Colbert. Last night’s monologue mocked Giuliani while also noting that some GOP members are finally coming back to Earth.

Stephen Colbert continues to make Rudy Giuliani late night television’s punching bag

Like so many other people who joined Team Trump, Rudy Giuliani has consistently found himself to be a late night TV punchline. Comedians like Stephen Colbert will always target President Trump but the president’s family, staff, and allies have hardly gone unnoticed.

Giuliani’s habit of putting himself in the spotlight, and rarely for good reason, certainly doesn’t help. First, it was his gaffes and bizarre television interviews during the impeachment that made Giuliani a frequent focus of “A Closer Look” on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

More recently, Giuliani found himself embroiled in controversy after Borat 2 was released. Just like Colbert’s monologue last night, late night comedians had plenty to say about that. Then the lawyer’s incompetence was mocked again by late night after the Four Seasons Total Landscaping debacle.

So when you add up all these hits over the past few years, it is easy to see why Stephen Colbert isn’t sweating President Trump’s legal fight. Colbert has already condemned the Trump campaign for refusing to concede. With Giuliani running the operation, the Late Show host is even more relieved knowing Team Trump doesn’t stand a chance of winning.
