Late night TV returns this week with another lineup full of guests that fans won’t want to miss

We are entering what is traditionally the busiest time of year in the entertainment industry. Add in the fact that the election is around the corner and there really is no shortage of things to talk about. Fans can expect late night TV to have it all covered this week.

The fall means new seasons of fan-favorite television series debut while other programs make their series debut. Streaming services have been able to compensate for theater closings by releasing feature films and documentaries. As always, late night TV is the best place to promote these projects.

Audiences also know that politicians have used late night TV to get their message across. That will certainly be the case this week as shows look to get some final analysis, insight, and commentary on the election.

With that in mind, here are Last Night On’s picks for the five late night guests that fans won’t want to miss this week. Be sure to let us know who you’ll be tuning in to watch.

Late night TV guest to watch: Sacha Baron Cohen

It is not often that someone makes this list two weeks in a row. But then again, it’s not that often that Sacha Baron Cohen is making the rounds on late night TV. Catch him on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Monday, Oct. 26.

We don’t know for sure if it will be Cohen or his character Borat that checks in with Stephen Colbert. Borat and his daughter Tutar (Maria Bakalova) ran wild on the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week, so it’s possible we get more of the same tonight on The Late Show.

If it is Cohen who talks with Colbert, it could be an even more interesting conversation. The comedian can discuss his perspective on American culture and the election in a way that may surprise fans who still only think of him in terms of his over-the-top alter egos.

Late night TV guest to watch: Sarah Cooper

Keep your eyes on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert again on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Comedian Sarah Cooper will join the show.

Cooper reached superstar status thanks to her TikTok videos lip-synching to President Donald Trump. She turned that into a guest spot on The Tonight Show and a turn as guest host of Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

Now she has her own Netflix special Sarah Cooper: Everything’s Fine produced by Maya Rudolph. On The Late Show, expect her to reflect on her rapid rise to fame and why her Netflix special should be in your queue.

Late night TV guest to watch: David Letterman

A late night TV legend returns this week. Fans can watch David Letterman on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

The Late Show is now in the hands of Stephen Colbert but before that, Letterman completely transformed the genre. Along the way, he inspired a whole new generation of comedians including Kimmel.

That should come up in their conversation on Wednesday. Also, Letterman will be promoting the new season of his Netflix show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.

Late night TV guest to watch: Pete Buttigieg

For fans looking for a political guest this week, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon will be the place to go. Former South Bend, Indiana mayor and presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg joins the show on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Buttigieg has been out campaigning for former Vice President Joe Biden, making a number of television appearances that have gained him attention. It’s possible that Buttigieg will have himself a job in the Biden administration if the Democratic nominee can bounce President Trump from the White House.

In the meantime, Buttigieg will make his pitch to Fallon and the Tonight Show audience. Fallon has played Buttigieg in a sketch before so we may hear the politicians review of the comedian’s impression.

Late night TV guest to watch: Simon Pegg

Late night fans will be happy to hear that Conan is back this week after an extended break. Be sure to check in on Thursday, Oct. 29 when Simon Pegg visits with Conan O’Brien.

Pegg has teamed up with his friend Nick Frost once again for Truth Seekers. The comedy/horror series is about a team of ghost hunters investigating paranormal activities. It launches on Amazon Prime Video on Oct. 30.

O’Brien and Pegg share a similar sense of humor when it comes to silly, absurd jokes. But both do it with an intelligence that make them stand out in their respective comedy categories. Expect an entertaining conversation that has the chance to go off the rails very quickly.
