Michael Keaton won’t confirm he’s Batman in The Flash

Michael Keaton addressed reports that he’s reprising his role as Batman in the upcoming Flash movie
Will Batman return…again? Actor Michael Keaton spoke publicly about reports that he’s returning to the iconic role in The Flash during his appearance last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
Back in June, it was reported that Keaton was in discussions to reprise his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne in the upcoming DC movie The Flash starring Ezra Miller. It would be Keaton’s first time back in the Batsuit after 1989’s Batman and 1992’s Batman Returns.
That report was followed up by news that Ben Affleck would also be returning as Batman in the same film. The movie is set to explore DC Comics’ famous multiverse concept which allows for multiple iterations of the same character to exist.
While plugging his role in The Trial of the Chicago 7, Keaton was asked about Batman by Jimmy Kimmel. As fans have come to expect with superhero movies, there was a certain level of secrecy in Keaton’s answer:
"I can’t confirm anything. We’re having discussions, as they say. We’re talking about it. We’ll see if it happens."
Keaton doesn’t confirm that he’s returning as Batman but the cat is already out of the bag. Andy Muschietti, the director of The Flash, has already shared concept art of Miller’s Flash alongside Keaton’s Batman. And the news confirming Affleck’s role in the film also made it clear that he’s not the only Batman returning to the cape and cowl.
It makes sense that Keaton didn’t want to get into Batman too much during his Kimmel appearance. It would have taken attention away from the project he was actually there to promote. But when asked who the best Batman of all-time was, Keaton didn’t hesitate to pick himself.
Batman is a frequent topic of discussion on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
As an avid comic book fan, Jimmy Kimmel takes any opportunity he can to discuss superheroes. His show is the official late night television home of the Avengers and he’s made his love of Spider-Man very clear.
But frequent viewers will have noticed how often Batman comes up on the show. Kimmel put himself in Batman v. Superman, took on the voice role of Batman in Teen Titans Go! to the Movies, and also hosted what was then Ben Affleck’s retirement ceremony as the Caped Crusader.
With plans for at least three different actors to be playing Batman over the next few years, Kimmel has even more reason to talk about the superhero. Fans can expect that Robert Pattinson, Ben Affleck, and Michael Keaton will all be getting invitations to Jimmy Kimmel Live! sooner than later.
