What should Last Week Tonight with John Oliver fans expect to see tonight on HBO?
With less than a month to go until the election, late-night television shows are kicking things up a notch. Leading the way will be Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
After taking some time off, Last Week Tonight returned last week with a piece on the election and how to ensure your vote is counted. It was another example of how the show, and other late-night programs, has mixed public service announcements in with comedy.
Fans can expect more of that as season 7 continues through the election and into November.
Is Last Week Tonight with John Oliver new tonight?
Unfortunately, it just won’t be tonight that season 7 continues. There will not be a new episode of Last Week Tonight on HBO tonight.
If you’re a frequent viewer of the show, you may be wondering why John Oliver and his team are taking another break. After all, it wasn’t that long ago that the show was off. The official Twitter account for Last Week Tonight acknowledged that with a promise to return:
There’s no show tonight! Which is pretty ridiculous. We were just off for a month, then we came back with all these apologies for being gone, and now we’re leaving again. If anything YOU should need a break from US! But if you do, wrap it up by next Sunday, when we'll be back.

John Oliver will be back next week. The silver lining is that he and his team of Emmy-winning writers just have more time to craft the show and come up with yet another compelling main story.
