Seth Meyers will be live tonight in primetime with a special edition of A Closer Look

“A Closer Look” is officially ready for primetime. The popular Late Night with Seth Meyers segment will get its own half-hour block tonight on NBC.

Closer Look Thursday will air tonight at 8:30 p.m. on NBC. With less than a month to go before the election, it will give Meyers a chance to deliver his take on this week’s news to an even bigger audience.

On Late Night‘s YouTube channel, “A Closer Look” videos routinely earn between two and three million views. Add in those who watch Late Night with Seth Meyers live, recorded, or on Peacock and there is no denying it has a large audience.

The election special will be recorded from Studio 8G in Rockefeller Plaza where Late Night has been filming since it returned from remote episodes during the pandemic.

What will A Closer Look cover tonight in primetime?

As usual, fans can expect “A Closer Look” to take aim at the Trump administration. There is no shortage of angles to take for Seth Meyers and his team of Emmy-nominated writers.

Recent installments have covered President Trump’s maskless return to the White House, discharge from the hospital, and debate performance. There is a pretty good chance those subjects come up again tonight.

Meyers could use tonight’s primetime special to go over last night’s vice presidential debate. However, the event didn’t offer the same kind of late-night comedy material that came from the presidential debate.

Instead, it is much more likely that Meyers uses Closer Look Thursday to examine the big picture of the COVID-19 outbreak in the White House. He will want to tie this to President Trump’s overall performance in office and argue why four more years simply is not an option.
