Is tonight the night that Saturday Night Live returns to NBC?
If it seems like it’s been an extra long time since Saturday Night Live was on the air with a new episode, you’re not crazy. Season 45 was cut short, extending the sketch show’s summer vacation. But things are about to change.
Three remote episodes closed out last season after the COVID-19 pandemic changed the way the world operated. Saturday Night Live spent the summer trying to figure out a way it could return this fall while keeping the cast, crew, staff, and any potential audience as safe as possible.
Other late-night television shows proved that it can be done. 30 Rock residents The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers have both returned to the studio and even held in-person interviews.
We can add Saturday Night Live to that list starting tonight. The season 46 premiere airs tonight with host Chris Rock and musical guest Megan Thee Stallion.
