Is Last Week Tonight with John Oliver new tonight, August 30?

Will there be a new Last Week Tonight with John Oliver tonight?
Late-night television options are set to get pretty scarce this week. Does that mean things start with Last Week Tonight with John Oliver?
With summer coming towards its unofficial end, there is a scramble to get one more vacation in before the fall season. That means fans shouldn’t expect any new shows from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, or Jimmy Kimmel Live! starting on Monday.
But as we’ve seen time and time again, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver is on its own schedule. HBO’s weekly late-night show has been known to take off a week or two during the summer. So what should fans expect tonight?
They should expect a brand new episode. Season seven continues tonight with a new show airing at 11:00 PM ET on HBO.
What should Last Week Tonight with John Oliver fans expect to see tonight?
With just about every other late-night show off this week, a lot of attention will be on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. But as usual, fans should expect the show to deliver.
One thing to keep an eye out for is where the show takes place. On Friday, we saw that Real Time with Bill Maher returned to its studio. It was of course empty but it still provided a different vibe to the show after five months of coming from Maher’s backyard.
Real Time films in Los Angeles while Last Week Tonight is shot in New York City. But other New York late-night shows such as The Tonight Show and Late Night with Seth Meyers have been given the go-ahead to return to the studio. Could tonight be John Oliver’s turn?
Then there is the question of tonight’s main story. Last week, it was the southern border wall and the arrest of President Donald Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon. Perhaps that was the start of a series updating the country on the president’s campaign promises from four years ago as we head into the Nov. election.
Oliver also hasn’t dedicated a main story to the COVID-19 pandemic since the July 19 show. That one was spent debunking conspiracy theories surrounding the novel coronavirus. It may be time for the show to revisit the subject.
