Is Real Time with Bill Maher new tonight, August 21?
By Matt Moore
What should Real Time with Bill Maher fans expect tonight on HBO?
Last week, Real Time with Bill Maher was put in the spotlight thanks to a very special viewer in the White House. Given this week’s event, a new episode of the HBO late-night show would definitely earn a captive audience once again.
Bill Maher had no choice but to respond after President Donald Trump personally attacked him in a tweet. The president was reacting to a “New Rule” segment in which Maher delivered a hypothetical eulogy for President Trump that was less than flattering.
It was another tough week of news for the Trump administration, meaning Maher has even more material tonight. Former Vice President Joe Biden was praised for his performance at the Democratic National Convention, the pandemic remains out of control, and President Trump’s former adviser Steve Bannon was arrested.
So will fans be treated to Bill Maher’s take on these headlines? Or Is Real Time squeezing in one more summer vacation?
You’re in luck, fans. There will be a brand new episode tonight. Keep reading for a breakdown of tonight’s guests.
Tonight’s Real Time with Bill Maher interview guests
Tonight’s interview guests both are guaranteed to capture viewers’ attention. Both are returning guests to Real Time with Bill Maher.
First up is former Ohio Governor John Kasich. Kasich, a Republican, gave a speech during this week’s Democratic National Convention. Expect Maher to ask Gov. Kasich why he decided to speak at the DNC and why the election is about more than the Democrats vs. the Republicans.
Next is an interview with film director Oliver Stone. The legendary filmmaker will be discussing his new memoir Chasing the Light: Writing, Directing, and Surviving Platoon, Midnight Express, Scarface, Salvador, and the Movie Game. Stone also never hesitates to share his political views so expect that to be on the table, too.
Tonight’s Real Time with Bill Maher panel
Tonight’s Real Time with Bill Maher panel will feature Rev. Dr. William Barber II. He serves as co-chair of the Poor People’s Campaign, an organization dedicated to addressing system racism, poverty, and other social issues across the country. Barber is also the author of the book We Are Called to Be a Movement on the need for social change.
Joining him on the panel will be author Thomas Frank. His latest book is The People, No that sets out to correct misconceptions about populism. Expect him to get into a back-and-forth with Maher over the best way forward for the country.
