The biggest names in politics will be on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert this week

The political world will be focused on the Democratic National Convention this week as former Vice President Joe Biden officially accepts the party’s nomination for president. An impressive list of speakers has been assembled for the virtual event but the guest lineup on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will give the DNC a run for its money.

Former President Barack Obama, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Senator Kamala Harris are among those expected to deliver speeches during the DNC. Originally scheduled in July in Wisconsin, the 2020 Democratic National Convention has been revamped due to the pandemic. But the remote configuration could be an advantage in terms of who is able to address the nation.

Late-night television fans can turn to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert all week for coverage. Just like he does after debates, Stephen Colbert will be going live on CBS after each night of the convention.

And when he does, he’ll be joined by some of the biggest names in the Democratic Party. Here’s a breakdown of who you’ll see on The Late Show and when this week.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert starts its week by welcoming former National Security Advisor Susan Rice. She served under President Barack Obama from 2013 to 2017 after previously acting as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

Rice was among those reported to be on former Vice President Joe Biden’s shortlist to join his ticket. Late-night television fans have seen Rice on Real Time with Bill Maher. On The Late Show, viewers can expect her to compare her time at the White House to the current administration and its policies toward national security. Stephen Colbert is likely to also ask her about her experience working with Vice President Biden and why he’s the right man for the job in 2020.

On Monday night, speakers at the Democratic National Convention will include New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Senator Bernie Sanders, and Former First Lady Michelle Obama.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert guest for Tuesday, Aug. 18

On Tuesday night, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert welcomes back a friend of the show. Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts will be the guest.

Sen. Warren has made a number of Late Show appearances over the past few years. As a Senator and presidential candidate, she has always managed to excite the studio audience with her passion and win their affection with her attacks on President Donald Trump.

Sen. Warren is scheduled to speak at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday, Aug. 19. It’s the same night that former President Barack Obama is speaking so Sen. Warren will have her work cut out for her if she wants to steal the show.

On The Late Show, fans can expect the same chemistry between Sen. Warren and Stephen Colbert that has been on display for years. The Massachusetts Senator may reflect on campaigning against Vice President Biden before pumping him up and laying out the case against President Trump.

On Tuesday night, speakers at the Democratic National Convention will include former President Bill Clinton, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and former Second Lady Jill Biden.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert guest for Wednesday, Aug. 19

Another former Democratic candidate for president joins The Late Show on Wednesday, Aug. 19. Stephen Colbert will chat with Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont.

It was looking like 2020 was going to be Sen. Sanders’ year after falling short in 2016. But Vice President Biden’s decision to join the race and concerns over “electability” proved to be too much for the Sanders campaign to overcome.

Colbert will be able to ask Sen. Sanders about the speech he’s set to deliver on Monday night. It should relate to the theme of unity, both for the Democratic Party and the country. There is no denying Sen. Sander’s passionate base of supporters and how important they will be if Joe Biden is to become the next president.

On Wednesday night, speakers at the Democratic National Convention will include former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Senator Kamala Harris, and former President Barack Obama.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert guest for Thursday, Aug. 20

The Late Show‘s coverage of the Democratic National Convention wraps up with the 2016 nominee. Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton joins Stephen Colbert on Thursday.

As he has during her Late Show appearances since 2016, Colbert will probably ask Clinton to reflect on where she was four years ago, seemingly on track to become the first female president in American history. Colbert can also ask Clinton about the speech she will have delivered earlier in the week as well as her experience working alongside Vice President Joe Biden in President Barack Obama’s administration.

On Thursday night, speakers at the Democratic National Convention will include Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey, former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg, and former Vice President Joe Biden.
