In A Closer Look, Seth Meyers examined President Trump’s strategy against Sen. Kamala Harris

For months, Senator Kamala Harris was said to be the frontrunner to join former Vice President Joe Biden’s ticket. It became a reality this week yet President Donald Trump and his allies still sounded unprepared for Sen. Harris to join the race. Late Night with Seth Meyers explained why in “A Closer Look.”

Sen. Harris wasted no time in going on the offensive. She challenged President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence during her first official speech as the Democratic nominee for vice president. Meanwhile, President Trump dismissed Sen. Harris as “nasty” and “mean” during press conferences, tweets, and interviews.

According to Seth Meyers, President Trump’s attacks on Sen. Harris lacked any punch. Attempts to echo those same attacks on Fox News also fell flat, argued the Late Night host.

Meyers explained why President Trump and his allies are struggling to find a narrative on Sen. Harris. And what they’ve come up with so far is nothing short of ridiculous, says Meyers.

Seth Meyers sounded embarrassed for Fox News in A Closer Look

It shouldn’t really surprise anyone to hear that President Trump went after Sen. Harris the same way he went after former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2016. The president only has a handful of adjectives he throws out. And until he comes up with one of his signature nicknames for Sen. Harris, it will probably be more of the same.

Seth Meyers clearly expected a little more from Fox News. Yet in “A Closer Look,” he was underwhelmed by Sean Hannity mocking Sen. Harris and former Vice President Joe Biden for videoconferencing.

Between Fox News and President Trump, all Seth Meyers heard was a lot of whining. Calling Sen. Harris “mean” and “nasty” was all the president and his allies have been able to come up even after months of speculation that Kamala Harris would be the VP pick. Then again, “A Closer Look” calling out the administration’s lack of preparedness is nothing new.
